Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
2¼ tsp instant yeast
¼ cup sugar
½ tsp salt
¾ cup warm milk
1 egg
¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
Cream Filling
8 oz cream cheese, softened
¼ cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg yolk
Glaze
1 cup powdered sugar
2–3 tbsp milk or cream
½ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions

  1. Make the dough
    Mix warm milk, yeast, and sugar.
    Add egg, butter, salt, and flour.
    Knead 8–10 minutes until smooth.
    Cover and let rise 1 hour until doubled.
  2. Prepare filling
    Mix cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and egg yolk until smooth and creamy.
  3. Shape
    Divide dough into 12 balls.
    Flatten each slightly and place 1 tablespoon filling in center.
    Seal edges tightly and place seam-side down in a greased baking dish.
  4. Second rise
    Cover and let rise 30–40 minutes.
  5. Bake
    Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Glaze
    Whisk glaze ingredients and drizzle over warm rolls.
    Tips
    Chill the filling for 15 minutes if too soft.
    For extra flavor, add lemon zest to the cream filling.
    Best served warm when the center is creamy and soft.
    Optional Variations
    Add cinnamon sugar before filling.
    Use pastry cream instead of cream cheese filling.
    Top with caramel drizzle or toasted coconut.
