Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) breakfast sausage (pork or turkey), cooked and crumbled
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk (or half-and-half for creamier texture)
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or a mix of cheddar & mozzarella)
- 1 cup biscuit mix (like Bisquick)
- 1 medium onion, finely diced (optional)
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
- ½ tsp paprika (optional, for color)
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven: 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook Sausage: In a skillet, cook sausage (and onion, if using) over medium heat until browned. Drain excess grease.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
- Add Biscuit Mix: Stir in biscuit mix until smooth.
- Layer Dish:
- Spread the cooked sausage evenly in the baking dish.
- Sprinkle 1 ½ cups of cheese over the sausage.
- Pour the egg mixture over everything.
- Top with remaining cheese.
- Bake: Place in the oven and bake 40–45 minutes, until golden brown on top and set in the middle (a knife inserted should come out clean).
- Cool & Serve: Let it rest 5–10 minutes before cutting into squares or wedges.
