Mashed Potatoes with Ground Beef and Gravy
🥔 Ingredients:
For the Mashed Potatoes:
- 2 lbs potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet), peeled and chopped
- 4 tbsp butter
- ½ cup milk (or cream)
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Ground Beef Gravy:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 small onion, finely chopped (optional)
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- Salt, pepper, garlic powder, and thyme (to taste)
👨🍳 Instructions:
1. Make the Mashed Potatoes:
- Boil the chopped potatoes in salted water until fork-tender (about 15-20 minutes).
- Drain and return to pot. Add butter, milk, salt, and pepper.
- Mash until smooth and creamy. Adjust consistency with more milk if needed.
2. Make the Beef Gravy:
- In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Add chopped onion (if using) and cook until soft.
- Sprinkle flour over the beef and stir well for about 1 minute.
- Slowly pour in beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
- Add Worcestershire sauce and seasonings.
- Simmer until thickened (5–7 minutes), stirring occasionally.
3. Assemble:
- Serve a generous scoop of mashed potatoes in a bowl
