Easy Batter-Style Tortilla Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup water
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil (or melted butter)
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions:
- Mix the Batter:
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, water, oil, and salt until smooth. The batter should have a pourable consistency, similar to pancake batter.
- Preheat the Pan:
- Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease it if necessary.
- Cook the Tortillas:
- Pour a ladleful of batter into the center of the hot pan.
- Quickly spread it thinly in a circular motion using the back of the ladle or tilting the pan.
- Cook for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, or until the bottom is lightly golden.
- Flip and cook the other side for another 30 seconds.
- Stack & Store:
- Transfer cooked tortillas to a plate and cover with a clean towel to keep them warm and soft.
- Repeat with the remaining batter.
Tips:
- If you prefer thicker tortillas, use a little less water in the batter.
- You can double the batch and refrigerate extra tortillas in an airtight container for 3–4 days.
