Easy Batter-Style Tortilla Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (or melted butter)
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions:

  1. Mix the Batter:
    • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, water, oil, and salt until smooth. The batter should have a pourable consistency, similar to pancake batter.
  2. Preheat the Pan:
    • Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease it if necessary.
  3. Cook the Tortillas:
    • Pour a ladleful of batter into the center of the hot pan.
    • Quickly spread it thinly in a circular motion using the back of the ladle or tilting the pan.
    • Cook for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, or until the bottom is lightly golden.
    • Flip and cook the other side for another 30 seconds.
  4. Stack & Store:
    • Transfer cooked tortillas to a plate and cover with a clean towel to keep them warm and soft.
    • Repeat with the remaining batter.

Tips:

  • If you prefer thicker tortillas, use a little less water in the batter.
  • You can double the batch and refrigerate extra tortillas in an airtight container for 3–4 days.
