Cheesy Meatloaf Recipe
Ingredients:
1 ½ lbs (700 g) ground beef (or mix of beef & pork)
1 cup breadcrumbs
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 small bell pepper, finely chopped (optional)
1 egg
½ cup milk
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp Italian seasoning (or oregano + basil)
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese (or cheddar, provolone)
1 cup marinara sauce (or ketchup for classic style)
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a loaf pan or line with parchment.
- Mix the meatloaf base:
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, bell pepper, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined (don’t overwork). - Layer with cheese:
Spread half the meat mixture into the loaf pan. Add a layer of mozzarella cheese in the center. Cover with the rest of the meat mixture, sealing the edges. - Top with sauce & cheese:
Spread marinara sauce (or ketchup) over the top. Sprinkle with more mozzarella cheese. - Bake:
Place in the oven and bake for about 50–60 minutes, until cooked through (internal temp 160°F / 70°C). - Rest & serve:
Let it rest 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley.
