🥖 Ingredients:
4 cups cubed bread (day-old bread works best)
1 ½ cups shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella, or mix)
1 cup cooked ground beef or chicken (optional)
4 eggs
2 cups milk
½ cup heavy cream (optional, for richness)
1 small onion (chopped)
2 cloves garlic (minced)
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp paprika
Fresh parsley (for garnish)
Chopped tomatoes (optional topping)
👨‍🍳 Instructions:
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
Prepare filling:
In a pan, sauté onion and garlic until soft.
Add cooked meat (if using), season lightly, and set aside.
Assemble casserole:
Grease a baking dish.
Add bread cubes evenly.
Spread the meat/onion mixture over the bread.
Sprinkle cheese on top.
Make custard:
In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, cream, salt, pepper, and paprika.
Combine:
Pour the mixture evenly over the bread and cheese.
Press gently so bread absorbs the liquid.
Bake:
Bake for 35–45 minutes until golden and set.
Finish:
Garnish with parsley and fresh tomatoes.
