🧆 Baked Meatball & Potato Casserole Recipe
Ingredients:
- 500g (1 lb) ground beef or lamb
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tsp paprika (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 3–4 medium potatoes, peeled and sliced (about ½-inch thick slices)
- 1–2 cups grated mozzarella cheese (or your favorite melting cheese)
- 1 cup tomato sauce or bechamel sauce (optional, for added richness)
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for greasing)
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). - Make the Meatballs:
In a bowl, combine ground meat, chopped onion, garlic, parsley, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well and form medium-sized meatballs. - Assemble the Dish:
In a greased round baking dish:- Arrange the meatballs in a circular pattern.
- Insert potato slices vertically between the meatballs, as shown in the top image.
- Bake (First Round):
Cover with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 35–40 minutes, until the potatoes are tender and the meat is mostly cooked through. - Add Sauce & Cheese:
- (Optional) Pour tomato or bechamel sauce over the top.
- Sprinkle generously with shredded cheese.
- Bake (Second Round):
Remove foil and bake uncovered for another 15–20 minutes, until the cheese is melted and golden brown, as in the second image. - Serve:
Let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy with salad or bread!
