🥣 Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
1/2 cup cold butter (cut into small cubes)
3/4 cup buttermilk (cold)
2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)
👩🍳 Instructions:
Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F).
In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
Add cold butter and rub it into the flour using your fingers until it looks like crumbs.
Pour in the buttermilk and mix gently until a soft dough forms (don’t overmix).
Turn dough onto a floured surface and gently fold it 3–4 times (this makes layers).
Flatten to about 2–3 cm thick and cut into squares or circles.
Place on a baking tray lined with foil or baking paper.
Brush tops with melted butter.
Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
🔥 Tips:
Use very cold butter for the best fluffy texture.
Don’t overwork the dough, or biscuits will be hard.
You can add cheese for a cheesy version 🧀
