Classic Buttery Croissants (Quick Recipe)

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (cold unsalted butter)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Steps

  1. Activate Yeast – Mix warm water, warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let foam (5–10 min).
  2. Dough – Combine with flour + salt, knead 5–7 min. Chill 30 min.
  3. Butter Block – Pound/roll butter into a 6×6” square. Chill.
  4. Laminate – Wrap butter in dough, roll out, fold in thirds. Chill. Repeat 3 times.
  5. Shape – Roll dough thin, cut triangles, roll into crescents.
  6. Proof – Let rise 1–2 hrs until puffy.
  7. Bake – Brush with egg wash, bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15–20 min.
