🧈 Fluffy Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons (85g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3/4 cup (180ml) cold buttermilk
- Optional: 1–2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Lightly grease a round baking pan or line with parchment paper.
- Mix dry ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. - Cut in butter
Add cold cubed butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work it in until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs (pea-sized bits). - Add buttermilk
Pour in the cold buttermilk and stir until a shaggy dough forms. Do not overmix. - Fold for layers
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Gently knead and fold it over itself 3–4 times to create flaky layers. - Cut the biscuits
Pat the dough to about 1-inch thickness. Use a round cutter to cut biscuits. Avoid twisting the cutter. - Bake
Place biscuits close together in the pan for soft sides or spaced apart for crispier edges. Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden on top. - Brush with butter (optional)
Remove from the oven and immediately brush the tops with melted butter.
🔥 Tips for Success:
- Cold ingredients are key. Chill the butter and buttermilk until ready to use.
- Do not overwork the dough – this keeps them tender.
- Bake close together for a pull-apart, soft texture like in your image.
