Ingredients

Dry Mix

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

¼ cup granulated sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

¼ teaspoon nutmeg

Wet Mix

2 large eggs

½ cup milk (or buttermilk for extra tang)

¼ cup sour cream (or Greek yogurt)

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

3 tablespoons melted butter

Apples

2 cups diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp are great)

2 tablespoons butter

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

Glaze

1 cup powdered sugar

2–3 tablespoons milk (or cream)

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Cook the Apples:

In a skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons butter.

Add diced apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon.

Cook 5–7 minutes until tender and caramelized. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  1. Make the Batter:

In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, sour cream, vanilla, and melted butter.

Stir wet ingredients into the dry until just combined (don’t overmix).

Fold in the cooked apples.

  1. Cook in Waffle Maker:

Preheat your waffle iron and lightly grease it.

Drop spoonfuls of batter into the waffle iron (make them thick so they look “donut-like”).

Cook until golden brown and crisp, about 3–4 minutes.

  1. Glaze Them:

Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.

Drizzle or dip the warm fritter waffles into glaze.

  1. Serve:

Stack them up, drizzle more glaze if desired, and enjoy while warm!

✨ Tip: For extra indulgence, drizzle with caramel sauce or sprinkle with powdered sugar in addition to glaze.
