Ingredients

For the Cake:

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 cup butter, softened

1/2 cup sugar

2 large eggs

1/4 cup milk

1 1/2 cups diced apples

For the Crumble:

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup flour

1/4 cup cold butter, cubed

1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in milk until smooth.
  5. In another bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and baking powder.
  6. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
  7. Fold in the diced apples.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
  9. Make the crumble: combine brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and cold butter. Cut with a fork until crumbly.
  10. Sprinkle crumble evenly over the batter.
  11. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  12. Cool slightly before slicing and serving.
