Cheesy Puff Pastry Breadsticks

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought or homemade), thawed
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp black pepper (coarsely ground)
  • Optional: garlic powder, oregano, or chili flakes for extra flavor
  • Optional: butter for brushing after baking

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven:
    Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the puff pastry:
    Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle (about 1/8 inch thick).
  3. Add cheese:
    Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the entire pastry. Press down lightly so it sticks.
  4. Roll or fold:
    • Option 1: Roll the pastry tightly into a log and cut into sticks.
    • Option 2: Cut the sheet into strips (1–1.5 inches wide), fold or roll them up into sticks.
  5. Egg wash:
    Beat the egg and brush it over the top of each stick for a golden finish.
  6. Season:
    Sprinkle sesame seeds, black pepper, and any optional spices on top.
  7. Bake:
    Bake for 15–20 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Cool & serve:
    Let them cool slightly, then serve warm. Optionally, brush with melted butter for extra flavor.
