Apple Pie Bars

Apple Pie Bars
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 large apples, peeled and diced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk
Directions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, softened butter, salt, and cinnamon. Mix until crumbly, like damp sand. Press half of this mixture evenly into the bottom of your prepared dish.
3. In a separate bowl, toss the diced apples with the lemon juice and vanilla extract until the apples are coated. Spread this apple mixture over the crust you’ve just pressed down.
4. Sprinkle the rest of the crumb mixture evenly over the apples, gently pressing it into an even top layer.
5. Slide the dish into your oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, until the top is golden and the kitchen smells amazing.
6. While the bars are cooling, stir together the powdered sugar and milk to make a smooth glaze. Once the bars have cooled a bit, drizzle the glaze generously over the top.
7. Slice into bars, share with friends or family, and enjoy a cozy bite of apple pie in every square!
